Kundapura: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje who came to Koteshwar on Friday, Ocober 19, to meet tipper and lorry owners and drivers who are on protests all over Udupi, parking their tippers and other vehicles on roadsides urging for a solution for sand problem gheroaed the MP and expressed their anguish.
The MP asked the delegation of protesters who were standing in the sunlight to come under shade. But the protesters refused to come and asked her to come to them instead. “You know the problems being faced by us for years. MLAs, MPs and MLCs are our people, but how is it that you are not able to control a deputy commissioner? We are unable to repay our loans. You give assurances before elections, but nobody is bothered about anybody now,” they said.
Party activists belonging to her party also were in the delegation. BJP block president tried to pacify the protesters, but they were not ready to listen. Therefore, the MP remained quiet for some time and listened to the grievances of the protesters.
