Mangalore : H. Dundiraj, the satirist and critic, will chair the Lions Kannada Literary and Cultural Convention organized by Lions Club of Kadri Hills to be held on Town Hall on December 17, Friday.
N. T. Raja, the president of the convention committee, informed reporters at a press conference on December 14, that the Lions Club will be holding a mega Kannada literary convention for the first time in the city. A think tank session, chaired by writer and columnist Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, will form part of the event, he added.
Mr. Raja also said that there will be various cultural programmes organized and at 3 pm Mantapa Prabhakar Upadyaya will present his mono yakshagana performance.
The event will organize the book exhibition at the premises of the venue. Around 2000 people are expected to come, he said.
The organization will also felicitate nine achievers like Ganga Padekal for Literature, B L Nagaraj for scholar, Dinesh Holla for Art and poetry, Bendaravadi Subramanya Sharma for Kannada literature, Raymond Montero for water research, Lokesh S Puthran for life security, Jayalakshmi B R for social work, Kumari Geetha Bai for sports and Gangadhar Piliyoor for Journalism.
Harikrishna Punaroor, honorary president of the convention, Arehole Sadashiva Rao, the convener of the event, Philip Periera and Sarvotham Anchan were also present during the press conference.
