Mangaluru: PUCL Campaign to save Democracy and Constitution through Street Drama, was received well by people in Mangaluru. As a part of Country wide Jatha, state PUCL has kick started it in Bengaluru on 26th January this year, since on this day the constitution draft committee headed by Dr. Ambedkar passed the draft and the Consitution came into effect on 26th Jaunaury 1950. PUCL has initiated a move to create awareness among people of the country, when section of the people, have taken law into their hands and have torn the copy of the constituion, and have also set it on fire.
PUCL wanted every citizen to realise that they are responsbile for building our country on the basis of political and social justice and wanted to create awareness through street play. A team of trained artists from Bangalore are on tour of the entire state, has reached Mangaluru this morning by road and had performed its street play first in Narayana Guru College near Kudroli temple. Boys and girls students had keenly witness the street play with interest and got engrossed, “ when the principal of the college had prompted the students to ask question on such occasion, created by PUCL for them, and to enlighten themselves about the Constitution.
Through many schemes of the constitution, many attempts have been made for the welfare of the people. PUCL have with pain, observed, that the government is trying to dilute and weaken the consitution and a wave of the reversal of our consitution, which is an attempt to change the consitution by dividing the people.
PUCL wanted to save democracy and constitution be protected after citizens were threathened about the dress they wear, and the food they eat and their religious beliefs. Getting education and taking care of health became difficult though the contitution has conferred certain rights on all true citizens of India. Through the constitution of India we declared our country as Independent, Soviegn, Socialist Secular and Democratic Republic.
The skilled artists also performed next at Roshini nilaya, a school and college of Social work. Right from the start of play, students encourged the artists by answering every question posed to them by the leader of the team, resulting in loud applause from all the students and teachers assembled to witness the street play. The team also performed at the Koraga colony at Vamanjoor from were they will proceed to Mysore, where they will perform the whole day at diffirent place in the city and outskirts in important junctions. At the end of street play, the team had offered a book on the constitution at a nominal price.
