Udupi: Dr. V.S. Acharya, Udupi incharge minister, inaugurated a students’ hostel for scheduled caste students in Adi Udupi on Tuesday, and stated that an amount of Rs 330 crores were earmarked for SC Communities’ development, apart from Rs1600 crores for scheduled Tribes progress.
Certain special programmes were also conducted for the uplift of koraga community.
34 beneficiaries received auto rickshaws, 29 got taxis, and 30 others secured house documents.
The second installments of scholarships meant for Koraga students doing higher studies, have been released, he informed.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat presided. K.S.Pujary, ZP chairman, Kiran Kumar of Municipal Corpn., and several other leaders and MC members, attended as main guests on the occasion.
DC Dr.M.T.Reju, ZP Admin.Officer Prabhakar Sharma, MC commissioner Gokuldas Nayak and several others were present.
