Mangalore : In all 43 meritorious children of police personnel received a scholarship amount of Rs 25000 each, in all totaling to Rs 11 lakh, thanks to Nigel Colaco, son of  the well-known NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist.

What was more special was that the entire amount was contributed by Nigel out of his own savings.  The function was inaugurated by Ronald Colaco who in his address regretted the fact that the police personnel who are the law keepers of the society were not provided with enough facilities as well as good pay in India. He also stated that he was proud of his son who decided to contribute something to the police personnel out of his own savings.

School bags were provided to as many as 900 children on the occasion. Pratap Reddy, IGP (Western Range), Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and others spoke on the occasion.
