Beltangady: In a tragic incident, a school teacher was killed in a hit-and-run accident at Guruvayanakere here on Tuesday December 20.

The deceased identified as Dinakar Hegde (48), was a school teacher at the Government School in Mundkur.

It is learnt that Hegde had gone for a morning walk and was on his way home after purchasing a newspaper when he was hit by a vehicle near Varsha Shenoy hotel at Guruvayanakere. Reportedly the driver drove away without bothering to stop the vehicle. Hegde succumbed to his wounds on the spot.

The bus, carrying students for an educational tour, was later found in Malpe, Udupi.

The accident is said to have been caused due to the driver’s negligence.
