Mangaluru: A Mandya boy, who was on his way to Mangaluru on a jolly school trip along with classmates and teachers, was killed after he was thrown out of the speeding bus. The incident occurred at Kodya Kallu of Shiradi village under Uppinangadi police station limits.
The victim has been identified as Chandru, 12, a resident of Sooganahalli village, Mandya taluk of Mandya district. He was class student at Nethra Higher Primary School, Mandya. Victim’s father and complainant Chennaiah Gowda, a farmer, has blamed that school administration and bus driver are responsible for his son’s death. While school administration did not take enough safety precautions, bus driver drove negligently despite knowing that school children were on board.
Police said that the school had organised a two-day trip to Mangaluru and Dharmasthala. As per plans, they had left on December 28, late night to Mangaluru.
On reaching near Kodya Kallu, which has two back to back hair pin curves, the driver lost control over wheels and applied a sudden brake to stop the bus. Due to sudden impact, rear door of the bus, which was latched, suddenly opened up and victim Chandru who was seated at last row was thrown out on the road.
According to police, he was thrown out after his head smashed to a metal bar placed in the bus. Soon after the incident, he was rushed to government hospital in Puttur, where doctors declared him brought dead. School teachers who were present during trip informed his parents about the incident asked them to rush to Puttur.
Body was taken to Mandya on Friday late-night and was cremated on Saturday morning.
