Mangalore : The DK District Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Organisations’ Federation has decided to go forward to the Supreme Court in order to go against Karnataka High Court’s verdict to consider Mogera caste as a Scheduled Caste in the state.
Addressing a meeting Narayan Shiroor, a Dalit leader said that High Court is giving away immature judgment. Hence we will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against this rule.
Above 35 castes are involved in fishing activity in the State and none of these caste apart from Mogera is listed as Scheduled Caste.
The concerned authorities have given away 25000 false caste certificates to the Mogera community members, hence in this will reduce the benefits required for SC and ST communities, he said.
Federation presidents Nirmal Kumar, General Secretary Kaanthappa Alangar, Rtd Dy Thasildar C H Bhaskar were present at the meeting.
