Mangaluru: Students of the SDM Law College in the city staged a protest at the college premises on November 30, Friday to condemn the recent gang rape case reported from Thota Bengre. The protest was organised by the Students’ Union of the College.
Addressing the protestors, student union leader Jithin demanded strict action against the culprits in the case. He also demanded that police must be on vigil in Thota Bengre area so that miscreants do not trouble visitors to the beach. He further suggested installation of CCTV cameras at various points to check such acts.
Another student who spoke on the occasion, said the incident made girls feel insecure in the city.
A memorandum was also submitted to the City Police Commissioner T R Suresh by the students.
They later attended the exams wearing black bands on their arms as a mark of protest.
