Mangalore : Akram Hasan state secretary of SDPI said that K Abhaychandra Jain’s decision to surrender the portfolio of state minister for fisheries on the religious grounds is not right.
Addressing the media at the press meet held at Press Club on May 29, Wednesday, he said that Jain must serve the society without any discrimination and must not surrender the post due to the pressure of his communities. Fishing is a part of life of Coastal people and giving up the post would be an insult done to the Coastal region.
Akram also said that Jain had given the statement in public that Jain community is against the killing of any forms, hence he would give up his post, but later he said stated that he was not a ‘Sanyasi’ to give up and he was misquoted by the media. Jain would rather bring the decision o the notice of Chief Minister or High command, he added.
Akram urged health minister U T Khadar to upgrade the primary health centre located at Ullal from 5 beds to 50 bed government aided district hospital as per the requirement.
Abubakkar Kulai, district president of SDPI, Akbar Ali, chief secretary, Nawaaz Ullal, district committee member were present.
