Mangalore : The Social Democratic Party of India organised a seminar at the NGO Hall on June 28, Friday to discuss the ‘draconian amendments’ to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 2008. It was organised as part of ten day awareness campaign organized by SDPI.
Speaking on the occasion, senior advocate Purushottam Poojari said the Act which denies bail to a person arrested under the Act upto six months is objectionable and added every individual who is arrested has the right to apply for bail.
Akbar Ali, District General Secretary of SDPI said there were chances of innocents being harassed under the Act.
PK Ponnappa, High Court Advocate, Aboobakker Kulai, District President of SDPI, Akram Hassan SDPI State Secretary, Alphonso Franco, State Committee Member and others were present.
