Mangaluru: ‘Sea Hack’ team, which started its swimming journey from Mumbai on 26 November reached Mangaluru through Goa border on Thursday. Thus, the team has made new Guinness world record by swimming 1031 km from Mumbai to Mangaluru.
Sea Hack team leader Wing Commander Paramveer Singh speaking to media personnel said that the record was observed by the members of Indian Swimming Federation, so the record will be considered and certificate will be provided to it.
“Previously the record was in the name if American swimmers ‘Night Trains’ who swum 505 km and another record where 200 swimmers had swum for 648.75 km. Now both the records have been broken. Moreover, we have broken our own record of swimming 433.11 km,” he said.
He further said that Rahul Chiploonkar, Shrikanth Palande, Vikki Tokas, Gullu Pilli Narahari, Manav Mehta and others were there in the team. Members of Indian Swimming Federation Shekhar Kale, guide Subhod Sule were also with the team.
Dedicated to 26/11 tragedy victim families:
“We started the journey from Gateway of India. This achievement will be dedicated to the families of slain who were the victims of 26/11 terror attack,” he added.
