Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has bagged the India Seatrade (Coastal Shipping and Inland Water Transport) Award 2016 for being “the major port of the year” in coastal shipping category. The award has been conferred on the port considering its contribution towards promoting coastal shipping.
A release from NMPT here said that the award recognises institutions, enterprises, ports and individuals for making a difference with their outstanding contributions in developing, supporting and scaling coastal shipping and inland water transportation in India.
Port Chairman P.C. Parida received the award from K. Mohandas, retired Secretary to Union Government, Ministry of Shipping, recently.
Ravindra Agarwal, Joint Secretary to Ministry of Shipping at Kochi, was present.
