Bangalore: Former Karnataka High Court judge Chandrashekaraiah was on Saturday appointed as the second Upa Lokayukta, official sources said.
The post had remained vacant after Justice R Gururajan resigned on October 12 last year citing family and health problems.
Chandrashekaraiah is likely to be sworn-in tomorrow at Raj Bhavan, sources said.
Justice S B Majige is the present Upa Lokayukta.
However, the appointment of new Lokayukta is still pending in the wake of a face-off between the state government and Governor H R Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj has refused to accept the recommendation of the government for appointing former Kerala High Court Chief Justice S R Bannurmath as Lokayukta in the wake of some allegations against him relating to securing land allotment in violation of rules.
