Mangalore : City Police Commissioner R Hithendra said that as a part of upcoming election, the police department has taken up special security arrangements in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikmagalur and Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituencies, out of 28 constituencies on April 17.
Speaking at the press meet held at Mangalore Police Commissionerate on April 15, Tuesday, Commissioner said that there are 158 Naxal affected polling stations in three constituencies.
He also said that the department has identified a total 417 polling stations as hyper sensitive and 1279 as sensitive polling stations and security arrangements will be taken up under the leadership of SP Dr Sharanappa.
SP said that there are 62 Naxal affected areas coming under the limits of DK constituency, 112 hyper sensitive booths and 227 sensitive booths out of 954 booths.
He also said that the department has deployed four DySPs, 14 inspectors, 29 Sis, 50 ASIs, 498 Head constables/police constables and 308 Home Guards from other states, apart from police officials and personnel from the district on duty.
Along with it, BSF, KLSAP, KSRP battalions and SAP from Maharashtra in district and four additional KSRP battalions will be posted in Naxal affected areas will be on duty, he said.
