Mangaluru : The CID that has begun an inquiry into the alleged sale of a luxury car and money-doubling case, has seized Jaguar, a high-end car that was sold to a private firm employee in Bengaluru.
An investigating official told that according to the present vehicle owner, the 2012-model car was sold for Rs 14.5 lakh.
The present Jaguar owner, who appeared before the investigating team, reportedly told them that he purchased the vehicle with the help of a middleman.
However, the officers did not reveal information about the previous owner as the case.
Meanwhile, a squad led by CID SP Rohini Katoch Sepat, who were investigating the money-doubling case in the city, visited the offices of Eliya Construction and Builders Pvt Ltd headquartered in Kadaba and an office in Mangaluru.
They have seized several crucial documents from the spot.
Dakshina Kannada SP B M Laxmi Prasad said that a case against Eliya has been registered in Dakshina Kannada district police jurisdiction as well.
Three persons Tomy Mathew, T Rajan and Abish, who collected money under Eliya Construction and Builders were arrested on October 22, 2020 after a city-based woman filed a case of cheating against them.
The victim alleged that the trio had taken Rs 4.5 lakh from her with a promise to double the amount.
It was alleged that the trio had cheated several persons to the tune of Rs 30 crore.
CCB sleuths, who have been accused of selling Jaguar car and suspended pending inquiry, had assisted the Mangaluru economic and narcotic crime police for the arrest.
Another accused Vyashak surrendered on December 15, 2020.
