Mangalore: The Centre for Advocacy and Research organized the seminar on HIV/ Aids for district level Media Representatives at RAPCC on September 7, Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that there must be changes brought in the mind of people about the HIV affected people.
He also said that the problems of sex workers an HIV must not be limited to the seminar, but must be tried to bring though the mainstream by protecting the values and awareness must be created among them, he added.
The HIV affected people must not be kept far from the society and the movement must be held to protect them.
Prabhananda Hegde, CFAR, Bangalore delivered the brief introduction on the seminar.
Dr O R Srirangappa, District Health Officer, Dr Kishore, programme officer and Dr Soumya, medical officer, ART Centre, Mangalore presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Druing the the first session, Dr Kishore, programme officer and District Aids Awareness Unit spoke on the topic ‘State and District level response in controlling HIV.
He said that HIV affected people face lot of problem in the society and media must focus their problems.
The organization will organize prevention programme and medical tests conducted for HIV affected but do not ask their problem and no rehabilitation will be given to affected and sex workers and if there is rehabilitation too, they will not agree to participate, said Nandish of Karnataka Sexual Minorities.
