Mangalore: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI)here and FKCCI, Bangalore hosted a half-day Seminar on VAT, GST and proposed Legal Metrology at the KCCI meeting hall near Bunder on Saturday from 10AM TO 2PM.
The Seminar was inaugurated by a J.R. Bangera, FKCCI(Federation) president, by lighting a lamp. Latha R. Kini, KCCI chief, welcomed the gathering. Guests were introduced by Mohammed Ameen, Vice-president.
B.T. Manohar of state Taxes Committee in FKCCI spoke on state value-added Tax and Central General Sales Tax levies.
Prabhat Shetty of Central Excise dwelt on local introduction of GST as part of Central levies.
Shambhu Bhat of Commercial Taxes touched upon state GST levies, and gave a live demo on electronic initiatives relating to Commercial Taxes.
Mohd. Anwar of Legal Metrology department in Bangalore referred to Packaging Laws and legal metrology matters in a speech.
After interaction with local members present, Secretary M.Ram Mohan Pai proposed a vote of thanks, before Lunch.
