Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader and present Zilla Panchayat Member Yashawanthi Alva (62) passed away on Monday at her residence at Kadri.

She was suffering from health complications for some time now.

She is the vice-president of Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee and as a dedicated party member she had put in over 40 years of service for the party’s welfare.

As a political figure, Alva was well-known for her polite and kind nature. MLA J R Lobo and other political leaders has condoled the death of Alva.
