Bengaluru : Senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Avtar Singh, who was working as additional principal chief conservator of forests here, committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence on Sunday September 8.
Singh (52), whose office was located at Aranya Bhavan in Malleshwaram, is believed to have been under tremendous work pressure.
Deputy commissioner of police, Bheemashanar Guled, said that Singh ended his life in a fourth floor apartment at Prestige Mount Kalor Apartment at Yalahanka New Town on Doddaballapur Road in the city. He reportedly had gone on leave and had rejoined for duties recently. On Sunday, he finished his walking routine, returned home, and hanged himself at his room in his residence. It is guessed that work pressure and failing health could be the main reasons for this unexpected act.
The deceased officer was suffering from diabetes and was depressed, it is said. He had been transferred to his office at Aranya Bhavan a month back. A 1990 batch IFS officer, Avtar Singh, was from Haryana. He has left behind wife and two children.
