Mangalore : Senior Retired Meteorologist, G. Srinivasan (78), resident of Bejai-Kapikad near here, passed away at his residence on Monday morning following brief period of serious ailment. He is survived by his wife Rukmini, two sons, daughters-in-law and three grand children.
His elder son S. Nandagopal, was formerly a correspondent of Times of India at Mangalore and Bangalore. He is presently running Centre for Integrated Learning, a city based NGO. His younger son Karthikeyan is an entrepreneur based at Hubli.
G. Srinivasan served in different capacities in the Indian Meteorological Department for three decades all over the country including Lakshadweep and Kolkota.
A dedicated Rotarian, he had been active in socio-cultural and religious circles in the city for more than five decades. He was also a talented theatre artist and was instrumental in establishing Kannada Kala Kendra in Mumbai and Bengaluru way back in the 60s.
