Mangalore : District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar inaugurated the book release function of ‘Abbakka Sankanthana’ held at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College on September 17, Saturday.
The event was jointly organized by Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Committee and the Kannada and Cultural Department.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the committee has to work with a certain thought to reach the achievement of Rani Abbakka to the state level.
He also said that, this book is as precious as epic to the people of Dakshina Kannada and can to kept homely by people irrespective of religion.
Further more number of books must be published to reach large number of people. This book will help the children to know about our freedom fighters and further protect our historic information.
The committee must find more details on the Rani Abbakka and organize a state programme on her achievements, he added.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that today there is necessary to recall the life and achievement of Rani Abbakka, who have saved our country from the Portuguese.
He also said that, the younger generation people have the photos of film stars like Amithab Bachan, Sharukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, but have not even seen the photo or heard the greatness of real stars like Rani Abbakka and Bhagat Singh till now.
Speaking after releasing the book ‘Abbakka Sankanthana’, Dr. B. Jayashree, the senior theatre artiste said that the study and research must be made on the life and history of Abbakka’s life and must be introduced in the subjects of schools
The greatness of Abbakka must not be limited just to the people of Dakshina Kannada, but must be known world wide. Organising Abbakka Utsav is not wrong, but it must be celebrated nation wide and spread message of her greatness among the youths.
She also said that they must organize a light and sound music programme for the people in the statewide, irrespective of language, in order to spread information on her history, she added.
Palemar felicitated the editors of the book like senior litterateur Amrutha Someshwar, Prof. A. V. Navada, Dr. Vaman Nandavar, Dr. Shaila, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, B. M. Rohini, M. Vasudev Rao, Abdul Azeez Haq, and D. N. Raghava on the occasion
Revealing further details regarding the book Amrutha Someshwar, said that it comprises 400 pages of details regarding the eight previous Abbakka Utasavas, along with introductions to various Abbakka Award winners, historical documents, and other interesting information. One-fourth of the pages of the book are colored, he said, adding that Dr. B. A. Vivek Rai has written the preface.
Deputy Speaker N. Yogesh Bhat presided over the event and said that the study made on the history of Abbakka will helf to build the nation in future. Furthe the government programme must be changed to social programme.
Dr. B. A. Vivek Rai, the visiting professor at Wurzburg University, Germany thanked the writers on the occasion.
