Mangaluru : The family members of Praveen Kumar (60), the convict in the 1994 Vamanjoor serial murder case of four members of a family, have made an appeal to the police and government seeking protection as they are facing threat from Praveen who has been released on the grounds of good conduct.
The family had information that Praveen was released in May last year. On November 7, he had reportedly telephoned his younger brother and had threatened him.
“This incident has sparked fears. We are living under fear of life. Police must keep an eye on his movements and must ban him from entering the district,” his family members have urged the City Police Commissioner.
The family said their requests in 2022 not to release Praveen had fallen on deaf ears. The police had also not responded when the family brought to their notice the threat made by him to his brother, the family members have said and added that they fear that Praveen may not hesitate to go to any extent.
Praveen who is a tailor by profession had killed his aunt and three others of her family at their home at Vamanjoor by attacking them with a wooden club on February 23, 1994.
