Mangalore : Although the All College Students’ Union has called for a bundh on July 30, Monday as a mark of protest against the attack on students at Morning Mist Stay Home by moral police, some of the colleges have not supported the bundh.
The students of St Aloysius College and its management have organized a protest in the College Campus supporting the bundh called by the All College Students’ Union.
Around 300 students of St Agnes College also staged protest inside the college campus and shouted slogans against the attack on students and Hindu Jagarana Vedike.
The Congress Womens’ Wing under the leadership of President Mamatha Gatty also staged protest in front of DC Office and shouted slogans against the attack and urged the police department to arrest other accused. Later around 25 members were arrested by the police department and taken to commissioner’s Office.
The members of CPI(M) along with the members of DYFI also staged protest against the incident under the leadership B Madhava and Muneer Katipalla and department arrested 70 members. CPI(M) leaders like Vasanth Achary, Sunil Kumar Bajal and others were present.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) under the leadership of Nithin Kumar, district president of SFI also organized a protest against it and 50 members were arrested. SFI State joint secretary Jeevan Raj Kutthar was present.
The arrested were released immediately after collecting the addres and contact number in the register book at Police Commissioner’s office.
