Udupi:  State Minister for Ports and Mujrai and Udupi District Minister Kota Srinivas Poojari said several noteworthy developmental projects have been initiated in Udupi district during the tenure of the BJP government.

Speaking after unfurling the national tri-colour at the 66^th Independence Day celebrations at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium at Ajjarkad on August 15, Wednesday, Poojari said the government was committed towards the development of the coastal districts. The minister also highlighted the achievements of the government. He said the district has received as many as 68,000 applications under various beneficiary schemes and of the total applicants nearly 12000 -13000 have been found eligible to avail benefits of various schemes.

The minister received a salute from District Police, Fire Brigade, and Home Guards. Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and  Guides and Service Corps. Students from various schools presented attractive cultural programmes.
