Mangalore : JR Lobo, Mangalore South MLA has hoped that the water logging in several areas of the city would reduce considerably due to effective channelization of sewage water with the commencement of sewage wet will units.
He was speaking after inaugurating new sewage wet-well units at Kodialbail, Kodikal and Dumbel areas on June 17, Monday.
M Yashwanth Raj, Executive Engineer in-charge, KUDCEMP, who spoke on the occasion said drainage water from Barebail, KMC, Bejai area will be channelized to the sewage wet well at Kodialbail from where it would be pumped to Kavoor sewage treatment plant via Kudroli wet-well. From Kavoor, it would be pumped to the tertiary treatment plant of MSEZ where it will be recycled for industrial need. Wastes filtered will be used as manure, he said.
If 70 per cent of maintenance cost will be borne by MSEZ, 30 per cent will be met by MCC.The total cost of the project has come up to Rs. 214 crores, Mr. Raj informed.
The wet wells are equipped with 2 pumps of 75 HP (Horse Power) pumping capacity. They are operated using auto censor.
