Mangalore : The sexual harassment and criminal intimidation case against Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi, gets a twist after the complainant’s paternal uncle kills himself at his home at Kedila near Puttur on August 31, Sunday.

According to Superintendent of Police SD Sharanappa, Shyamasundar Shastry(48), brother of Diwakar Shastry, shot himself on the chest with a licensed revolver around 1 pm.

After the incident took place, Shyamasundar was taken to hospital in Puttur before being shifted to KMC, Mangalore and breathed his last at 6 pm.
It is learnt that, Diwakar Shastry’s daughter Anshumathi Shastry has alleged that the seer sexually harassed her mother, Premalatha.

According to the sources, Shyamasundar an agriculturist by profession was also associated with Vivekananda Education Trust. Shyamasundar had called the seer on Saturday evening and expressed his wish to meet him on Sunday evening.

Sources also said Shyamasundar, who was very close to the seer and was disturbed after his niece Anshumathi filed complaint against seer and following arrest of his brother Diwakar Shastry and sister-in-law Premalatha on the charge of blackmailing the seer.

Police said that Anshumathi, in her complaint at Banashankari police station in Bangalore, stated that seer and his disciples sexually harassed her mother Premalatha.
