Mangalore: The SFI staged a protest in Mangalore on January 9, Wednesday seeking a CBI probe into the rape and murder of Sowjanya, a student of SDM College in Ujire.
Addressing the protestors, Nitin Kumar, District President of SFI said the investigation into the case so far has made no headway except for the arrest of one person said to be ill. He said the rising cases of violence against women and students have brought in a sense of insecurity in students.
Dhanalakshmni, a student leader also spoke. A re-investigation was urged into the Sowjanya case by Razak Montepadavu, District President of SFI. He said the SFI would hold a signature collection drive and send the signatures of 10,000 students to the higher authorities.
