Bangalore : Intensifying its demand that the ‘Shaadi Bhagya’ scheme be extended to all communities, the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) is considering launching a rath yatra or a padayatra across the State if the government does not budge.
KJP president B S Yeddyurappa and party workers havebeen on an indefinite protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Anand Rao Circle, demanding that the scheme — under which the government pays Rs 50,000 to poor brides from the minority communities — be extended to all newly married women from economically weaker sections.
