Mangalore: Former BJP MLA and a prominent Tulu film artiste, Shakuntala Shetty is considering seriously about Joining JDS for which Kuamarswami sounded her on and often earlier.
HDK has a DK connection near Puttur and his confident of reviving her fortunes after 3 years of political aloofness. She had formed a Swabhimana Vedike (Self-esteem Forum) under her political mentor Urimajalu Rama Bhat, whom she would consult before making up her mind.
She was defeated in her second election contest by her rival and present MLA Ms. Mallika Prasad. She would rather not join Congress, which had a lot of groupism and leaders, who could ruin her. She has moved away from both DV Sadananda Gowda and B Ramanath Rai.
In near future, she hoped to take a clear-cut decision, on joining JD-s which is now limping in DK.
