Mangaluru: Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty inaugurated the Shree Krishna Jayanti programme organised by district administration in association with Kannada and Cultural department and Zilla Panchayat, on Thursday at Town Hall, Mangaluru.
Speaking on the occasion Shakunthala Shetty said that Krishna is a protector of women and girls. He taught the girls and women how they should behave in the society.
“As per my opinion Krishna didn’t married 16008 wives. He saved them from evil things and they praised him as ‘Swamy’ and we all misunderstood the context of the word ‘Swamy’. He taught girls to take bath inside the four walls instead of taking it openly, by stealing their sarees,” she said.
She further said that to stop the atrocities, which are being increased day by day, Krishna should be born again in this world. We should learn how to protect a girl or woman, from Kirshna.
MLA Mohiudhin Bava while addressing the gathering said that, it is first time ever in the history of Karnataka; any government has taken responsibility of celebrating Krishna Jayanti.
“We need to follow the path drawn by Shree Krishna. We should be united and should strive to bring the harmony in the society, as Krishna said. We should follow him by keeping our difference in opinion aside,” he added.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Kumble Sundar Rao, ZP President Meenakshi Shantigodu, CEO ZP Sreevidya, ADC Kumar, President Beary’s Sahitya Academy Mohammed Haneef, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir and others were present.
