Mangalore : Sharanya Mahesh, student of a II BSc at St. Aloysius College and member of Mangalore Roller Skating Club, has been selected for the Karnataka Ekalavya Award 2011.

Sharanya, who has been skating since the age of five, has bagged several national and international awards and recently has won 2 bronze medals at the 14th Asian Roller Skating Championships held at Kaohsiung, Taipei. 

Earlier she won the individual championship title at the 45th Nationals and the gold medal at the 46th Nationals, apart from participating in the World Roller Skating Championship in 2005.

The government has also withheld the Ekalavya Award declared for Roshan Ferrao because the state sports due to the re verification process of his documents.
