Mangaluru : Police probing the murder of RSS Sharath Madivala have not achieved any breakthrough even after a month. Police, according to sources, so far have interrogated around two dozen suspects.
The latest interrogation was done two days ago. A person, settled and working in Mumbai and having a criminal past at Bellare, was summoned. “However, he was let off as police found that he was not at all related to the murder. We have been keeping an eye on all the suspects,” said a source from the investigating team.
Sharath, 28, a resident of Sajipa in Bantwal taluk, who was attacked by unidentified miscreants on July 4, succumbed to injuries three days later. A stone-pelting incident was reported during his funeral and several leaders of a right-wing organisation and others were arrested.
Further, another source added that though the motive behind the murder is very evident and clear, police are not able to identify persons behind it. “It is because on the day of incident, instead of making necessary arrangements to track down assailants, police concentrated only on manning the law and order situation which helped the accused go out of the police radar,” blames another source from police department.
CCTV footages collected from various points of the area where crime took place have not shed any light on the bike-borne assailants, who attacked Sharath.
However, CH Sudheer Reddy, SP, Dakshina Kannada, says they have made a substantial breakthrough in the case. “Our team is working overtime to crack the case and they have got a major breakthrough. It may take a little more time as we are into a systematic investigation. We are positive that it will be cracked soon,” he said, adding that police are not probing any family angle into the case.
