Mangaluru : Police investigation says RSS member Sharath Madivala killed by bike-borne assailant in revenge for the murder of mason Mohammed Nasir in 2015.
It is said, Sharath was not part of it. Assailants, who believed that Sharath was involved in the murder of Nasir and attempt on the life of Sajipa Mohammad Mustafa -the incident is infamously known as the `Sajipa Nasir murder’ plotted to kill him when the district was in the throes of communal tension from May-end to July, reveal sources in the Dakshina Kannada district police.
Sources add that Sharath was also a police informer on the rampant sand mining in Bantwal taluk, but police refute it.
The murder of Nasir, 28, from Malaibettu in Sajipa Munnur village, took place a few metres from Sharath’s house, when a gang of four persons attacked him when he was travelling in Mustafa’s autorickshaw late at night. Police said the accused, who were arrested, had planned a revenge attack but not with the intention of killing him.
“Those who plotted the murder of Sharath believed he was behind the attack, though he had no connection to it. Besides the local leader of the Popular Front of India, they involved leaders of the organization from Hassan and Chamarajanagar, and executed the plan on the night of July 4, when Section 144 was in place in the district,” say sources.
