New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s political secretary Pawan Khera has filed a defamation case against India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal following his remarks against her. The legal notice says Kejriwal tried to maliciously defame the Chief Minister.

The Congress has taken exception to the use of the term ‘dalaal’, which means ‘deal maker’. The notice calls for Kejriwal to withdraw the remark and apologise.

“I sent the notice to Arvind Kejriwal for use of filthy language, use of the word ‘dalaal’ for Sheila Dikshit. There has to be civility in public discourse. I will respond to Arvind after two days through the court of law. This legal notice to Arvind is in my personal capacity as his statements hurt me,” Khera said.

Kejriwal hit back at Sheila Dikshit saying he isn’t afraid of any notice. He said, “It’s Sheila Dikshit’s actions that are defaming her.” “I have been told that a legal notice has been sent to me. I would like to tell her that we will be doing so till you keep working against the people. We are not afraid of any legal notice,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal had launched a ‘bijli paani’ movement against the inflated power and water bills. Team Kejriwal is staged public protests last week against the power tarrif hike that was effected in the capital. Arvind Kejriwal along with Prashant Bhushan, Sanjay Singh and Kumar Vishwas also protested at Jantar Mantar on Sunday. At the protest, people set afire electricity bills, alleging there was collusion between government and discoms in the capital to increase tariffs and help private companies earn more.

Sheila Dikshit had also made a veiled attack on Kejriwal accusing him of trying to build his political future by “misleading” people on the issue of hike in power tariff in Delhi. Without naming Kejriwal, Dikshit, addressing a public function at Nangloi in West Delhi, said certain elements were trying to rake up the power tariff issue for their political gain by “misleading” the citizens of Delhi. “These elements have been trying to mislead people on the issue of power tariff for their political gain. They get the media coverage very easily and they are trying to capitalise on it for their political future,” Dikshit had said.
