Mangalore: The Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) Dakshina Kannada unit deputy chief, and general Secretary of Hindu Hitharakshna Vedike (Welfare forum), lawyer Jagadish Shenava has contested the statement earlier made by senior Congress leader, Bantwal Janardhan Poojary (BJP), regarding the UPA proposed bill on communal violence and targeted violent actions prevention, as “not against majority Hindu people”, and joined issue with Poojary, to retort that the Congress old Lion was mistaken in his view.
He (Shenava) asked BJP to clarify first, as to what was the prime aim in bringing such a controversial bill, in whose interest, by central Government and also tell people whether it was proper to divide national citizens as ‘group’ and others.
He asked moreover that, was it right to say or call a ‘group’ as suffers or tormented persons but what about others then? He added that in the last 5 years communal riots had taken place in India.
Does the central Government have power to call Hindus as ‘Others’ in the proposed bill? Why this bill is not applicable to Jammu-Kashmir where Muslims are in majority and Hindus (Pandits) are a reduced minority? Shenava asked Poojary to come clean and answer these questions. He repeated that Poojary was issuing his statement, without releasing facts, and not understanding the implications of the Bill that was detrimental majority.
