Mangalore :  A Sheni Memorial Art Festival organised by the Kalkura Foundation, was held at the Sharada Vidyala in Mangalore on September 18, Tuesday. Noted Haridasa artiste K Mahabala Shetty  and Yakshagana scholar Prof. MA Hegde were conferred Sheni Awards on the occasion.

Delivering the Sheni  commemoration address, noted Yakshagana critic M Prabhaker Joshi, described Sheni as a towering personality who gave a new dimension to Yakshagana. The credit of bringing novelty to Yakshagana should go to Sheni, he added.

Prof. MB Puranik, Chairman of Sharada educational institutions, presided over the function. Senior Yakshagana artistes Kumble Sunder Rao, KG Ramesh Rao, Karnataka Bank General Manager, SM Hegde, BSNL officer, Anand K, Associate Vice President of Udayavani and others were present .
