Mangaluru : The newly concreted Shiradi Ghat road, inaugurated near Kempuhole bridge on Sunday.

In first phase– a 13.62-km road was concreted in 2015. The work on second phase of the road from Kempuhole to Addahole covering a distance of 12.38-km was opened to traffic on Sunday.
According to Dakshina Kannada (DK) Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, the work on shoulder and the retaining wall will be completed within 15 days.
The contract was awarded to Ocean Construction India Pvt Ltd.
The contractor procured the latest machine worth Rs 7.5 crore from Germany when the first phase started in 2015. For the second phase, the contractor procured machines worth Rs 10 crore from Germany.
The contractor also bought the Texture Curing Machine (TCM-180). With this machine, the process of concrete curing is made easier. This helped the early completion of the work.
The DC said, that vehicles are allowed on the stretch from Sunday.
Considering the traffic, the DC and DK police will take a call on allowing movement of heavy vehicles on the stretch from Monday.
