Mangalore : Excerpts of a brief interview Mega Media had with Energy Minister Ms. Shobha Karandlaje on her recent visit to DK dt, on Jan27
Q: There is a continuous requirement felt during summer season in the state. How do you propose to go about this need?
Minister: We have already collected sufficient water resources to last for a summer need of hydraulic energy. Any additional requirements would be fully met then.
Q: What steps are taken to save electric flows?
M: We have asked consumers to use bulbs that absorb a minimum power and unit light. The farmers have been told to use ‘Star’ brand motor pumps. These steps will result in savings.
Q: You have promised free current to agriculturists. Anything done about it?
M: Obviously, yes. No power bills have been sent to ryots yet. For their convenience, current will be supplied to them at nights and this will be done shortly.
Shobaha Karandlaje opened two new sub-centers of 33/11KV generators at Kudroli and Nandigudde this week. Kadri station has been already opened by CM last year. One more sub-centre is due later in the city, apart from 3 working since 1996 to 2010.
