Beltangady : Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra and Vimukti Mahila Okkuta staged a silent protest in the town on October 18, demanding a thorough probe into the death of Sowjanya who was raped and murdered near Pangala on October 10.
Over 700 women took part in the protest march from Belthangady bus stand to the taluk office and submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar as well as the SI of Belthangady to hasten probe into the case.
They urged the authorities to ensure steps to see that such incidents did not recur.
Finally Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, the director of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra and others spoke on the occasion.
