Mangalore : The silver jubilee celebrations of the Karavali Lekhakiyara Vachakiyara Sangha concluded at a function held at the Sangha office on December 23, Sunday. Noted writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy winner Vaidehi inaugurated the valedictory ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, she regretted the fact that women are still forced to undergo oppression even 65 years after independence. She also called upon women to fight oppression unitedly. Vaidehi also regretted that there have been no scientific inventions that can come to the aid of women in times of emergencies or oppression She also called upon women to be bold and courageous and fight oppression.
Dr Sabeeha Bhoomigowda, President of the Sangha, presided over the function. Janaki M Brahmavar, Vice President, Dr Shaila U, Secretary, Dr H Nagaveni. Professor in Hampi Kannada University were among others present on the occasion.
