Mangalore: Habitual thieves entered two jewellery shops in the early dark hours of Thursday, November 24, at Haribhat Road in Haleangdi Olapete(inner market) in Mangalore taluk to loot gold ornaments worth Rs.20lacs and fled with silverware too.
While Sridurga jewellers loss was worth Rs.15lacs inclusive of 15kg. silver and two gold chains, Padmashree jewelers incurred a loss of Rs4lac, with 4Kg. silver and other valuables.
Mulky police officer on duty, Basheer Ahmed, who rushed to the area, feels that the theft took place between 2 AM and 3AM early this morning. The Mulky police have registered the case. Finger print experts and sniffer police dogs visited the two shops broken in, but no clues were left for them.
