Mangaluru: A single-window system to get permission from the Election Commission for various activities in view of the model code of conduct has been made operational in the office of the Returning Officer of Mangaluru City South Assembly constituency.
The office is in Mangaluru City Corporation building at Lalbagh.
The office will deal with the applications pertaining to the city south constituency.
Informing this at a meeting of political leaders and representatives of parties here on Friday, Antony Maria Emanuel, the Returning Officer of the city south constituency, said that the applicants can also file applications in prescribed format using Suvidha online system.
The Returning Officer can be contacted on 8277931060. Assistant Returning Officer Shabarinath Rai can be contacted on 9448582084.
The Returning Officer said that permission should be obtained before 48 hours of the scheduled event. It applied to public functions, use of loudspeakers, processions, materials to be taken out in processions, and burning of effigies.
He said that political parties should obtain permission from respective police stations to take out processions, if any, while submitting nomination papers and for taking out election rallies.
There was no need to take permission to conduct press conferences but it was advisable to keep the Returning Officer informed about it.
If political parties wanted to conduct meetings of their workers in their recognised offices there was no need to obtain permission.
But if it was outside in public places, permission would have to be obtained.
