Mangalore : The Mangalore unit of the Students Islamic Organisation of India protested in front of the DC office here on October 4, Friday condemning communalization of education.
Abdul Latif Alia, President of the SIO, Mangalore unit who spoke on the occasion said the fifth and eighth standard social science text books introduced last year and the sixth and ninth standard text books introduced this year has several aspects that aimed at communalizing education. This will sow the seeds of communal hatred in children, he feared.
Abdul Khader Kukkila, Editor of Sanmarga Weekly who also spoke, said though there were hopes that the Congress government would rectify the error, except for a statement by education minister Kimmane Ratnaker nothing much has been done. He said such text books would give room for communal tension and urged the government to withdraw the same and send circular to tall schools.
Irfan Kudroli, Secretary, Misjab, Campus Secretary of SIO, Talha, PRO, Sayyed Ismail, President, JIH, Mangalore, Sujavuddin, Umera, President GIO Mangalore and others were present.
