Mangalore: The powerful Government executives who bring heavy machines to destroy houses built on govt. land unauthorisedly by landless-homeless destitutes with no directions to go in, show immense patience and keep mum over the filthy rich who swallow many acres of other people’s (red Govt.) land by encroachment and through bribery of revenue officials. This is to say the least, inhuman and unjustifiable, or a ruthless act, said Yadava Shetty( General Secretary of DK Dt of KRR Sangha) in his wild indignation against an officialdom that could not react properly towards have-nots, on Monday, which happened to usher in Lunar New Year “Khara” among the Hindus, at Shaktinagar.
He was partaking as Chief Guest to inaugurate a large meeting near Deepa Friends’ Club grounds at Shaktinagar on the outskirts of the port city, the ward level site-less people’s conference which he inaugurated.
Yadava Shetty wondered whether it was the same Govt. of the part that stood for poorest of the poor while collecting votes in general,
Panchayat or City (corporation) elections, and then absconded.
Munir Katipalla who was the guest of honour (from DYFI DK unit), speaking on the occasion reminded the audience that the Indian Constitution gave the solid opportunity to every citizen of this country, to live in a decent manner all his/her life, but the present-day party –rooted governments in coalition rule or otherwise, did not bother about constitutional rights given 60 years ago by the nation’s founding fathers.
Katipalla gave a clarion call to all have-nots and depressed classes to unite under one roof in order to live in dignity or in self-esteem.
Hundreds of people participated in the preparatory meeting leading to ‘DCO Chalo’ programme due on April 26 in city. Women outnumbered men in this huge rally that caught the eye of local residents in Shaktinagar.
The sullen conference decided to carry on its relentless struggle against powers that be, until house rents came under legal control, and sites were distributed to all deprived families in coastal belt. DYFI leaders Imtiyaz, Santhosh Bajal, Naveen Konchady, Prameela Shashidhar Vasudeva, Umesh Bolya, Manjadka V, Tukram and others were present.
