Bantwal: A scene of communal clash was seen in Kalladka, when a group of people stopped a illegally transporting cattle vehicle on June 20, Saturday.
The incident tuned up to the quarrel between the two groups and reached to the extent of using lathis by the police.
Reportedly, a group of men going on motorbikes tried to stop a tempo carrying illegally transporting cattle in the evening. But when the tempo hit one of the bikes, they pulled the driver out of the tempo and attacked him. The situation turned worse, when other group arrived on the spot and started to fight.
The groups in anger began pelting stones and soda bottles around, damaging other vehicles and shops in the surrounding. The shop owner in the surrounding later started to close their shops and the drivers of the vehicles passing by were stopped and assaulted.
In order to disperse the mob, the police teams arrived from Puttur, Mangalore, and Vittal were deployed.
In the incident, around six people were injured and 10 vehicles were damaged.
SP Abhishek Goyal and Puttur ASP Anucheth visited the spot. Security has been beefed up to control the situation.
