Udupi:  Six persons have been arrested by the police in Amasebail on the charges of unauthorized transportation of meat of sambar deer. The arrest took place near Kerekatte and the deer is learnt to have been hunted from the Mookambika reserve forest area.

Those arrested are Abdul Majeed, Mohammad Gaus, Parvez, Zakaria from Bhatkal and Seetaram Hegde from Hosangadi.

Apart from the meat, the police have also seized two guns and a cash of Rs 5000 from the accused. They it is learnt were planning to sell the meat in Bhatkal, The meat weighed 50 kgs.

The arrested have been produced before the Kundapur court and remanded to judicial custody.
