Mangaluru: Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelinho on Wednesday released the award winners list of 2016 year.
3 people have been elected for honorary award and 3 people’s books have been selected for the awards.
For the honorary awards Cyril J Sequeira of Mangaluru for literature, Vasudeva Balakrishna Shanbhag of Sirsi for Art and Clara Antony Siddhi of Yallapura for folk has been chosen for the awards. Kasargod Chinna’s ‘Tees Kaniyo’, Umesh Nayak’s ‘Shrinivas Kalyana’ and Agnesia Frank’s ‘Amruth Tujya Hathanth’ books have been chosen for the awards.
Hnarary awards will be consisting of Rs 50000 cash prize and books award will be conferred with Rs 25000 cash prize each.
Award conferring ceremony has been scheduled to be held on February 12 at Mangaluru Town Hall at evening 6. CM Siddaramaiah will confer honorary awards and Minister Umashree will confer book awards.
“Mangaluru Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Nagaland and Tripura Governor P B Acharya, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes will be gracing the occasion with their presence,” said Roy.
