Mangalore: Thieves not only come in gangs but they rob shops in a group serially. In the early hours of Friday (December 9) morning, five shops were found targeted by such serial thieves for cash robbery. There was also a Doctor’s clinic among these victims, though it was veterinary clinic.
Three shops in Kankanday, and three more were a little away from Netravathi Layout, that had a visit from unaccustomed robbers.
The gang of robbers decamped with Rs.55,000 from Megha Fashions(Owner Sapna J.), Rs 15,000 from Indane Gas distributors, and Rs.4,000 from Laxmi General stores in Kankanady. They left electronic and other valuable items untouched.
The cash amounts stolen elsewhere are not determined.
The thefts were discovered by a passing auto driver. He alerted some people and informed the police on broken shops.
The police found that the robbers were not professional or habitual. But it was disturbing to find that night police patrolling had failed in city. The Police offer silly answers to pressmen’s pointed queries on night watch. SI Ravish Nayak of kankanady rural police is conducting and enquiry.
