Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has turned down an application from present DGP-IGP Shanker Mahadev Bidri to keep his appointment, made under Yeddyurappa rule in 2011.
The Central Administrative Tribunal(2 members) had overturned the appointment, when Abdul Rehman Infant, the Seniormost police officer in Police ranks, had questioned Bidri’s appointment bypassing Infant’s qualifications, Seniority and experience. The state Government and Bidri went in appeal against CAT order Cancelling his(Bidri’s) appointment.
Justice Dilip Bhonsle and Judge B.S Indrakala in a bench decision advised the Government to fit the eligible and honest Police officer Infant at his proper grade, while appointing. Bidri in an appropriate post. The CAT had ruled that Infant be fitted in as temporary(acting) DGP-IGP until a new officer is appointed in that top post, other than Bidri.
This verdict approved by KHC, has put Bidri in a quandary, and it is a moral defeat for Yeddyurappa who had appointed him only 6 months ago.
